For every person with a drinking problem, it's estimated that at least five of their friends and family are affected by their alcoholic behaviour. Although the problems associated with alcoholism are widely recognised, the friends and family of problem drinkers often live every day with uncertainty, deceit, and in some cases violence or emotional and physical abuse, and may need support themselves.

Al-Anon Family Groups provide support to anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone else’s drinking, regardless of whether that person is still drinking or not. We hold regular meetings where members share their own experience of living with alcoholism. Al-Anon does not offer advice or counselling, or try to explain your experiences, but members give each other understanding, strength and hope.
